The Simplex 4098-9794E is a TrueAlarm sounder base built for humid environments. Importantly, it is a mounting base with a built-in electronic sounder, not a detector itself. First, a Simplex TrueAlarm photoelectric or heat sensor plugs into the base. Then the base both mounts that sensor and adds a local audible sounder. As a result, one device supports detection and notification at the same point.
Simplex 4098-9794E sounder base features
The integral sounder provides a high-output local alarm tone at the detector location. In addition, the base connects to the panel over MAPNET II or IDNet for sensor data. However, the sounder itself draws power from 24 VDC or a notification appliance circuit. Therefore wiring includes both the addressable pair and a sounder power source.
The “E” version targets sites with elevated humidity. Specifically, it suits areas such as utility spaces, parking structures, and similar damp locations. Also, it keeps audible coverage right at the point of detection.
