The System Sensor SMB600 is a flanged surface-mounting kit for detector bases. It supports System Sensor 400 and 500 Series bases, including 6-inch bases. As a result, you can surface-mount a detector where the junction box is too small.
The kit provides a finished housing for the base and detector. Therefore, the assembly sits cleanly on the ceiling or wall. In addition, the flanged edge hides the mounting surface beneath.
System Sensor SMB600 Application
The box seats the detector base on its raised platform. Also, field wiring runs inside the housing. Then the detector head plugs into the mounted base as usual.
This kit suits retrofits and surface-conduit installations. Furthermore, it keeps the detector accessible for service. Installers get a tidy mount without cutting into the structure.
