The Potter Electric Signal VSR-2 is a vane-type waterflow alarm switch for 2″ wet sprinkler pipe. First, it mounts on the top of horizontal pipe or on vertical pipe. Then, water flow downstream of the device pivots the vane and trips the switches.
How the Potter Electric Signal VSR-2 works
A minimum flow of 10 GPM (38 LPM) activates the device. In addition, an adjustable 0-90 second pneumatic retard helps prevent false alarms from surges. As a result, the VSR-2 signals a fire alarm panel when a sprinkler head actually opens. Specifically, it carries UL and FM listings for schedules 10 through 40 steel pipe at 2″ nominal size.

Where the VSR-2 fits
Therefore, integrators use the VSR-2 on commercial wet sprinkler risers and zone lines. Also, the field-replaceable retard/switch assembly (stock 1029030) swaps without draining the system. Finally, Potter rates normal service life at 10-15 years.
