The Edwards SIGA-HFD is an intelligent fixed-temperature heat detector in the EST Signature Series. It is part of Edwards’ addressable Signature device family.
Specifically, the SIGA-HFD triggers an alarm when the temperature at the detector reaches a fixed threshold. As a result, it is well suited to spaces where smoke detection is impractical — such as kitchens, mechanical rooms, and parking garages.
How the Edwards SIGA-HFD Reports to the Panel
The SIGA-HFD communicates with the host panel over the Signature SLC. As a result, each detector occupies one address and is individually identified by the panel.
In addition, the panel reads the detector’s status continuously. Therefore, faults, tampers, and alarms are all reported as discrete events with custom point labels.
Where Fixed-Temperature Heat Detection Fits
Use a heat detector instead of a smoke detector in spaces with steam, dust, exhaust, or other airborne particulates that would cause nuisance smoke alarms. Furthermore, heat detectors are the right choice in spaces where the only fire signature of concern is a fast-developing flaming fire.
