The Edwards SIGA-OSHD is a Signature Optica Series intelligent multi-criteria smoke and heat detector. It combines optical (photoelectric) smoke sensing with rate-of-rise heat sensing in one device. As a result, the SIGA-OSHD efficiently detects smoldering fires as well as fast-flaming fires.
Edwards SIGA-OSHD — dual-sensor optical detection
First, the optical smoke sensor uses dual optical wavelengths combined with multiple detection angles. Then particle data is fed through digital filters with ratio algorithms that reject signal patterns typical of cooking nuisance sources. In addition, the on-board rate-of-rise heat sensor adds a 15°F/min (9°C/min) function plus a 135°F (57.2°C) fixed-temperature threshold. Furthermore, both sensors feed the detector microprocessor, which compares readings to preprogrammed settings before initiating an alarm.
UL 268 7th Edition listing
The SIGA-OSHD is listed to UL 268 7th edition, the latest smoke detector standard with enhanced cooking-nuisance immunity. Integrated nuisance rejection helps reduce unwanted alarms from general cooking particulates.
Intelligent sensing features
Smoke sensitivity range: 0.5 to 4.36 %/ft (1.6 to 13.6 %/m) obscuration. Five sensitivity settings with automatic day/night sensitivity adjustment. Also, twenty pre-alarm settings, two levels of environmental compensation, and two levels of dirty-detector warning. Furthermore, the detector supports automatic device mapping and self-diagnostics with history log in non-volatile memory.
Electrical and environmental
Operating voltage: 15.20 to 19.95 VDC from the Signature loop. Normal operating current: 32 µA. Alarm current: 45 µA. Wall mounting: 12 in (305 mm) max from ceiling. Spacing: max 50 ft (15.2 m) centers for the heat detector function. Operating environment: 32 to 100°F (0 to 38°C), 0 to 93% RH non-condensing.

CAN/ULC-S529, CAN/ULC-S530, UL 268-7, UL 268A, UL 521. The detector is compatible ONLY with control panels using a Signature Loop Controller. In addition, compatible bases include: SIGA-SB, SIGA-SB4, SIGA-RB, SIGA-RB4, SIGA-IB, SIGA-IB4, SIGA-AB4G, SIGA-AB4GT, SIGA-AB4G-LF.
