Siemens (HZM) Conventional zone module

The Siemens HZM (part# 500-034850) is a remote conventional zone module for intelligent fire alarm systems. It connects a single zone of conventional devices to an addressable analog loop. As a result, one system can combine intelligent and conventional devices with far less wiring.

First, the HZM powers up to 15 two-wire ionization or photoelectric smoke detectors. These include the Siemens ‘3’-series and ’11’-series detectors. Alternatively, it can power one PBA-1191 beam detector with no additional devices. In addition, it monitors an unlimited number of alarm-causing shorting devices. For example, waterflow switches, thermal detectors, and manual stations all qualify.

Each HZM occupies one address on the DLC device loop circuit. Also, each module accepts a custom 32-character alphanumeric message. A multicolor LED shows status through the cover plate. Specifically, red means alarm, yellow means trouble, and green means normal.

Compatibility

The Siemens HZM works with Siemens Modular panels and the FireFinder XLS. Furthermore, it supports the Siemens 50-point, 252-point, and 504-point addressable systems. Compatible detectors include the HI121, OH121, OP121, DI-3 series, DT-11, PE-3, and PE-11. Therefore, the HZM is ideal for adding conventional zones to an intelligent system economically.
