The Secutron QAS-2X8 is an audio amplifier splitter for the QX-mini emergency communication system. Specifically, it adds eight independent, fully supervised speaker zones to a QX-mini or QX-mini-BP panel. In addition, each of the eight zones supports Class A (Style Z) or Class B (Style Y) speaker wiring. Furthermore, every zone can be turned on or off individually under panel control.
The QAS-2X8 mounts directly on the main board of the QX-mini panel. As a result, no separate enclosure or chassis is required. Also, the module is intended for indoor and dry environments only.
Why the Secutron QAS-2X8 supports dual amplifiers
The splitter accepts inputs from two different amplifiers. Therefore, one amplifier can drive an alarm message to a specific zone while the other amplifier sends an alert tone to the surrounding zones. For example, on event-floor / surrounding-floor voice schemes, the panel can send two different messages at once.
Alternatively, the second amplifier may be configured as a backup. As a result, if the primary QAD-30 amplifier fails, the backup QAD-30 automatically takes over the speaker zones. Furthermore, when wired to a Mircom FleXNet, FX-2000, FX-3500, or FX-3318 panel, the splitter can independently address event and surrounding floors for code-required voice signaling.
