The Siemens CZM-4 is a conventional zone module (Siemens part 500-890488). Specifically, the module converts a 2-wire conventional initiating device circuit into an addressable point on a Siemens fire alarm loop. As a result, an installer can keep existing conventional detectors while reporting per-zone status to a modern addressable panel.
How the Siemens CZM-4 is used
First, the CZM-4 mounts onto a standard Siemens module base. Then, it is wired to the conventional zone and to the Siemens addressable loop. In addition, the module reports alarm and trouble conditions back to the host panel. Therefore, the panel can annunciate the converted zone as a discrete addressable point.
