The Siemens FDBZ492-R is an air-duct smoke detection housing with a relay. It is designed for conventional two-wire fire alarm systems. The housing mounts directly to HVAC ductwork. As a result, it monitors duct airflow for smoke.
A sampling tube pulls a cross-section of duct air across a compatible smoke detector. Then the air exhausts back into the duct. Therefore, the unit senses combustion products circulating in the air stream.
Siemens FDBZ492-R Relay and Operation
The FDBZ492-R provides a Form C dry-contact relay. Specifically, it is rated 2.5 A at 125 VAC / 24 VDC. As a result, it can signal HVAC shutdown or auxiliary control on alarm. In addition, the housing operates over a duct air velocity of 100 to 4000 ft/min.
