The Potter WLS is a float-operated water level switch for fire sprinkler supply tanks. It supervises the water level in a gravity or pressure tank. As a result, the system signals a trouble condition when the level changes too much.
Reliable sprinkler protection depends on an adequate water supply. The WLS monitors that supply continuously. Specifically, it detects the level before a 3-inch rise or a 3-inch fall, as NFPA 72 requires.
Potter WLS Mounting and Construction
The switch has a bushing with 1-1/2″ American Standard pipe threads for steel tanks. In addition, a 1-1/2″ NPT to 2″ NPT adapter bushing is available for existing 2″ flanges. For wooden tanks, an optional buttress-thread adapter is offered. The NEMA 4 enclosure suits wet locations. Its cover is a weather-, UV-, and flame-resistant composite, secured by two tamper-resistant screws.
