The Secutron MRI-4070 is a short-circuit isolator module. It keeps the rest of an SLC loop running when a short circuit occurs on one section. As a result, a single wiring fault cannot take down the entire loop.
First, the MRI-4070 senses an SLC short and opens the affected section. In addition, the rest of the loop continues to communicate normally. Furthermore, the module is self-restoring. Therefore, when the short is cleared, the module automatically returns the section to service.
Where the Secutron MRI-4070 Fits
Specifically, place an MRI-4070 between groups of detectors and modules. As a result, the isolator splits the loop into segments. Then, a fault on any segment isolates only that segment.
Also, the MRI-4070 requires no SLC address. Therefore, it does not count against the 240-device-per-loop limit. Furthermore, no jumpers or hardware settings are required at installation.
Status Indication
An indicating LED reports module status. As a result, technicians can identify the faulted SLC section quickly during troubleshooting.
