The Edwards 270-DPO is a non-coded single-action conventional fire alarm pull station with double-pole contacts and open-circuit operation. First, this is a manual initiating device for conventional 2-wire fire alarm circuits. Specifically, it activates with a single break-glass pull and signals an alarm to a conventional fire alarm control panel. Therefore, it suits retrofits and new installs in schools, hospitals, factories, and other commercial properties.

What the Edwards 270-DPO pull station does

This pull station presents a glass rod that an occupant breaks to initiate an alarm. As a result, the pull handle latches in the operated position until reset by a key or hex tool. In addition, the double-pole contact configuration provides two independent circuit transfers on activation. Then the open-circuit (DPO) variant signals the panel by interrupting the IDC loop rather than shorting it.

Part number decode

Specifically: 270 = single-action pull station series; D = Double-pole contacts; P = Pull (single-action break-glass); O = Open-circuit operation. For the single-pole open-circuit sibling, see the 270-SPO. For double-pole closed-circuit, see 270-DPC.

Compatibility notes

However, this is a CONVENTIONAL pull station — it is NOT an addressable Signature Series device. Therefore, do not specify it in place of a SIGA-270, SIGA-278, or SIGA-PS addressable pull station. Furthermore, it must be installed on a 2-wire IDC zone with a panel that supports open-circuit initiation.
