The Edwards 4-NET-SM is a single-mode fiber-optic SFP network controller for EST4 panels and remote annunciators. Specifically, it carries network data on a 9/125 µm single-mode fiber pair between EST4 nodes.
First, the 4-NET-SM plugs into a 4-NET SFP slot on the 4-ANNCPU annunciator processor or an EST4 control panel. Then it forms one end of a paired link. In addition, every 4-NET-SM in a project must be matched with a second 4-NET-SM on the other end of the same fiber pair.

For Cat 5e copper up to 100 m, use 4-NET-CAT. However, for the standard single-mode pair on most campuses, the 4-NET-SM is the default choice.
