The Ditek DTK-120/240HW is a parallel-mounted hardwired surge protective device (SPD) for 120/240 VAC split-phase electrical services. It is UL 1449 Listed as a Type 1 SPD and rated for 50 kA per phase peak surge.
The DTK-120/240HW protects 120/240 VAC split-phase 3-wire-plus-ground branch circuits and dedicated 240 VAC loads. Therefore, it suits residential service entrances, light-commercial panels, and single-phase 240 VAC equipment circuits.
First, the SPD parallels with the branch circuit at the panel. As a result, surges divert to ground before reaching downstream loads. In addition, a diagnostic LED shows ground-system power and SPD function. Furthermore, the compact enclosure mounts close to the protected panel to minimize lead length.

Application Notes
First, install on the line side or load side of the main breaker per the AHJ. As a result, the device provides Type 1 service-entrance protection or Type 2 branch-panel protection respectively. In addition, keep the lead length between the breaker and the SPD as short and straight as possible — this matters more than peak rating for real-world performance. Also, verify the service is 120/240 VAC split-phase before installing.
