The Edwards 3-BBC/M-230 is a 230 VAC booster/charger power supply for the EST3 fire alarm platform. First, the supply card mounts to the back of an EST3 chassis or wallbox. Then, its monitor module mounts on the local rail and distributes power. As a result, the booster contributes shared power to the entire EST3 node.
Specifically, the 3-BBC/M-230 delivers 7 A at 24 VDC nominal output. In addition, the module provides two 3.5 A auxiliary outputs accessible at the monitor module’s terminal blocks. Furthermore, up to four supplies parallel in a single enclosure for as much as 28 A of available power.
Edwards 3-BBC/M-230 battery charging
The “BBC” stands for Booster Battery Charger. Therefore, this variant charges a 24 V sealed lead-acid battery set up to 65 AH. Also, charging is temperature-compensated based on the battery cabinet’s ambient. As a result, charge rate stays within the battery’s specification across the operating range.
The supply automatically load-tests the batteries by shutting down the charger and applying a load. However, a trouble is reported if voltage falls outside spec. Then, the trouble clears automatically once the battery recovers and passes a future test.

For panels needing more secondary power or a second battery set, the 3-BBC/M-230 is the right choice over a pure booster. However, a primary 3-PPS/M-230 must already be present in the node. As a result, each battery set in the panel pairs with either one 3-PPS/M-230 or one 3-BBC/M-230 per the EST3 power-supply rules.
