The Edwards 3-CPU3 is the central processor unit for the EST3 life safety platform. It monitors the status of all modules and links network communications. First, each local rail card runs its own microprocessor. Then the 3-CPU3 manages all inter-module communication. As a result, it coordinates the entire EST3 control panel.
Edwards 3-CPU3 features
- 16-bit processor for system control and monitoring.
- Stores up to 1,000 history events.
- Provides RS-485 local rail communications.
- Supports multiplexed audio channels.
- Includes Form C contacts for alarm, supervisory, and trouble.
- Remains compatible on-network with the 3-CPU and 3-CPU1.
Options and network limits
Available options include an LCD display with user interface. In addition, RS-232 and RS-485 network communication cards can be added. For RS-485 networks, maximum distance between any three panels is 5,000 ft. Specifically, resistance stays within 90 ohms and capacitance within 0.3 uF. Furthermore, the 3-CPU3 is part of the UL 864 listed EST3 platform.
