Siemens (HMS-2S) 2-stage manual station (part# 500-033460)

The Siemens HMS-2S (part# 500-033460) is an addressable two-stage manual fire alarm station. Siemens designed it for Canadian two-stage applications under its ULC listing. As an intelligent initiating device, it communicates in two directions with the control panel.

First, pulling the lever activates the first-stage alarm. The lever then locks in the down position until someone physically resets the station. In addition, the HMS-2S includes a keyswitch that activates a second address. Turning the key initiates the second stage. Therefore, trained staff can escalate from alert to full evacuation deliberately.

Furthermore, the station includes normally closed auxiliary contacts. These contacts can release door holders and magnetic door locks during an alarm. To reset the unit, open the hinged cover with an Allen key, then close and lock it. Alternatively, return the keyswitch to its original position.

Compatibility

The HMS-2S operates with the Siemens FireFinder XLS control panel through the DLC device loop card. It occupies addresses on the DLC addressable loop. Also, technicians set the device address using the Siemens DPU Programmer/Tester before installation. As a result, no mechanical address switches are needed at the panel.
