The Hochiki HPS-SAK-PSK is a manual pull station for conventional fire alarm systems. Specifically, it is the single-action, key-locked, pre-signal variant with the CAT 30 key. As a result, a building occupant can pull the lever to trigger a fire alarm. Authorized staff with a CAT 30 key can also reset or test the station without removing it from the wall.

Application Notice

This is a MANUAL PULL STATION, not a power supply. The “P/S” in the abbreviated SKU stands for Pull Station. In addition, the “PSK” suffix denotes the Pre-Signal Key variant — designed for facilities that use NFPA 72 pre-signal alarm sequencing, where staff investigate before general alarm.

Pre-Signal Operation

Pre-signal pull stations differ from standard pull stations. Specifically, a pull at the lever sends an investigation signal to the fire alarm control panel. Then, authorized staff have a defined window to investigate the activation. If the alarm is verified, an authorized user inserts the CAT 30 key to trigger general alarm. As a result, the building avoids unnecessary full evacuation during investigation.

Pre-signal sequencing must be approved by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Furthermore, NFPA 72 requires specific procedures and timing for pre-signal use.
