The Potter PS-40-EX is an explosion-proof supervisory pressure switch. First, it monitors pressure in automatic fire sprinkler systems. Then it signals the panel when pressure drifts out of range. As a result, crews catch problems before a system fails.
How the Potter PS-40-EX pressure switch works
The switch comes factory set for 40 PSI normal system pressure. Specifically, the low contact operates on a 10 PSI drop, near 30 PSI. In addition, the high contact operates on a 10 PSI rise, near 50 PSI. Therefore, it flags both low- and high-pressure conditions.
An explosion-proof housing lets the PS-40-EX serve hazardous locations. As a result, it suits sites with flammable vapors, gases, or dust. Furthermore, it shields the switch contacts from the surrounding atmosphere.
Typical applications
Installers use it on dry-pipe and pre-action sprinkler systems. For example, it also supervises air or nitrogen supplies and pressure tanks. Finally, it brings code-minded pressure supervision to demanding environments.
