The Space Age SSU00689 is the SRD System Record Documents enclosure — a red, locked, wall-mount cabinet that stores fire alarm system records at the panel. First, mount the SRD beside the fire alarm control unit. Then load as-built drawings, inspection reports, and the integrated USB memory drive. As a result, the AHJ finds current records in the code-required location every visit.
Why dedicated record document storage matters
NFPA 72 (Section 7.7.2.4) requires that a record of installed software and firmware version numbers be maintained at the location of the fire alarm control unit. In addition, AHJs increasingly request inspection and test records at the time of inspection. Therefore, an at-the-panel SRD enclosure satisfies both requirements with one purpose-built, lockable container.

What goes in the SRD
First, the as-built drawings and device address schedule. Then the current NFPA 72 inspection and test reports. Next, any modification records, software and firmware version logs, and AHJ acceptance correspondence. In addition, the USB drive holds software backups, panel configuration files, and historical event logs. Therefore, the full system history sits within arm’s reach of the panel.
Choosing between the SRD variants
The SSU00689 is the red SRD (the public-safety standard color). Alternatively, the SSU01689 is the black-and-white SRD with a CAT 30 high-security lock — suited to lobbies and high-traffic public spaces where a red box draws unwanted attention. Furthermore, the SSU00685 FAD carries different “FIRE ALARM DOCUMENTS” lettering for AHJs that prefer that wording.
