The STI STI-9705 Horn/Strobe/Speaker Damage Stopper is a surface-mount steel wire cage. First, it protects fire alarm horn, strobe, and speaker notification appliances from vandalism, ball impact, and accidental damage. In addition, the open wire design preserves sound transmission and strobe visibility. Therefore, alarm output is not muffled or blocked.
STI STI-9705 construction
First, the cage is built from 9-gauge steel wire. Then, the wire is coated with corrosion-resistant white polyester. Specifically, the unit measures 7.40 in. H (188 mm) x 6.15 in. W (156 mm) x 3.39 in. D (84 mm). Also, the surface-mount profile fits over standard wall-box notification appliances.
Compatible devices and installation
First, the guard is sized for System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance series horn, strobe, and speaker bases. In addition, the STI-9705 ships with mounting screws and anchors. Then, installation is straightforward over the existing appliance. For the red-coated variant, see the STI-9705-R. Furthermore, the appliance underneath remains fully serviceable through the cage.
STI backs the cage for three years against breakage in normal use. UL/cUL tested (File S7025). For flush-mount applications, consider the STI-9708 family.
