The Potter EVD-1 is a UL- and ULC-listed electronic vibration detector for safes, vaults, and ATM enclosures. First, the unit provides primary protection for mercantile or bank safes and vaults. In addition, it serves as supplementary protection for file cabinets, display cases, walls, and ceilings.
The detector uses sensitive piezo sensor technology and a supervised microprocessor. Specifically, it senses short-duration, large-amplitude attacks from explosions, hammering, and chiseling. Furthermore, it senses long-duration, small-amplitude attacks from torches, thermic lances, drills, grinders, and cutting discs.
Potter EVD-1 specifications and outputs
The EVD-1 runs on 9-16 VDC nominal (12 VDC typical) with maximum 0.1 V ripple. Specifically, the unit draws 26 mA standby, 24 mA alarm, and 34 mA tamper at 12 VDC. As a result, it works directly off most security panel auxiliary outputs.
The alarm relay is a Form C contact rated 2.0 A at 30 VDC. In addition, the tamper output is a Form A contact at the same rating. Also, an integral multi-color status LED reports normal, alarm, and tamper conditions locally.
Physical build and installation
The enclosure is a die-cast aluminum base with a 22-gauge stamped steel cover. Specifically, the unit measures 5.10″H × 3.26″W × 1.20″D and weighs 0.64 lb. Furthermore, the EVD-1 must be paired with a UL-listed security control unit, not a fire alarm panel.
The unit is a stand-alone detector built for single-detector applications. For multi-detector setups, Potter recommends the EVD-2 system. Also, the optional RTA Remote Test Annunciator and high-security “B” cable simplify install per UL 681.
Therefore, the EVD-1 is the right choice for jewelry stores, bank vaults, gun shops, and other high-value asset protection. Its piezo-plus-microprocessor design rejects nuisance triggers while catching real attack signatures.
