The Simplex 4098-9848 is a dust boot for TrueAlarm sensor and detector bases.
It slips over the rear of the base to seal the wiring. First, you fit the boot onto the installed base. Then it blocks dust and water from reaching the connections. As a result, the base stays protected in dirty or damp areas.
Simplex 4098-9848 protection rating
The boot carries an IP51 rating. Specifically, IP51 guards against limited dust ingress and vertically falling water drops. Therefore, it suits locations exposed to condensation or light debris. In addition, the part weighs only about 0.1 lb, so it adds no bulk.
