The Edwards 4X-DR is a blank hinged display/door for the 4X Series option-card mounting hardware. Specifically, it covers an unused option card space when no control-display module is installed in that position.
First, the 4X-DR mounts onto the hinges of an option-card mounting bracket the same way an active 4X Series control-display module would. Then it presents a blank face on the panel front. As a result, the panel keeps a clean front-of-panel appearance even when an option card space is not yet populated.

When to Use the 4X-DR
However, the 4X-DR is most useful in two cases. First, on a panel commissioned with fewer than three populated option cards. Then later, when expansion is required, the 4X-DR is removed and a 4X Series active module installed in its place. As a result, the panel can grow without leaving open holes in the front of the chassis at first commissioning.
