The System Sensor 5604 is a 194°F (90°C) fixed-temperature heat detector. It is a single-circuit, mechanical heat detector. As a result, it activates when the surrounding air reaches 194°F. In addition, it suits areas where smoke detectors are not appropriate. For example, mechanical rooms and dusty spaces benefit from heat detection.
How the System Sensor 5604 works
The detector uses a fixed-temperature thermal sensor. When the air hits the rated temperature, the normally open circuit closes. Then the fire alarm panel signals an alarm. Furthermore, a collector drops from the unit after activation. As a result, technicians can quickly spot the detector in alarm.
Installation notes
A reversible bracket mounts the 5604 to common back boxes. Specifically, it fits 3 1/2-inch and 4-inch octagonal, single-gang, and 4-inch square boxes. In addition, SEMS screws accept 14 to 22 AWG wire. Therefore, wiring stays simple and secure. The 5604 is listed to UL 521.
