The Edwards 757-7A-RS25W is a 15/75-candela re-entrant speaker-strobe in white, designed for 25 V fire-alarm audio risers. Specifically, it is part of the Integrity 757 Series, which uses a compression-driver re-entrant speaker for higher output than cone-type models. As a result, you get a louder voice and tone signal in the same housing footprint.

First, the 757-7A-RS25W carries a compression driver with an 8-ohm voice coil and sealed construction. Then a built-in DC blocking capacitor allows the panel to electrically supervise the audio distribution circuit. Therefore, the speaker is correctly supervised on a standard 25 V audio riser.

Dual Candela Strobe Rating

Furthermore, the -7A strobe carries two candela ratings. Specifically, it is UL 1971-listed at 15 cd wall mount and 15 cd ceiling mount. In addition, it is UL 1638 / ULC S526-listed at 75 cd as a protective visual signaling appliance. As a result, a single appliance covers both public-mode (UL 1971, hearing-impaired) and private-mode (UL 1638, on-axis high-output) applications.

Also, the LSC product title note about “75 cd on-axis per ADA/UL 1638” is correct — the 75 cd value is the UL 1638 rating, not a separate UL 1971 rating. Therefore, designers should use the 15 cd value for UL 1971 hearing-impaired notification spacing.

Wattage Taps and Sound Output

Furthermore, the 757-7A-RS25W is field-selectable for 2, 4, 8, or 15 watt operation. As a result, the installer can balance output against branch loading without changing devices.

Specifically, the speaker-strobe dBA output per tap (UL 1480 reverberation room) is:

  • 2 W — 87 dBA
  • 4 W — 90 dBA
  • 8 W — 95 dBA (UL 1480 average 91.8 dBA)
  • 15 W — 98 dBA (UL 1480 average 94.1 dBA)

Synchronized Flash

Also, the 757-7A-RS25W synchronizes at one flash per second. As a result, multiple strobes on the same circuit flash together when paired with an external synchronization source. Compatible sync sources include G1M-RM, SIGA-CC1S, SIGA-MCC1S, SIGA-CC2A, SIGA-MCC2A, BPS6A, BPS10A, APS6A, APS10A, and Fireshield Plus 3/5/10-zone panels.

Cold-Weather Strobe Output

Specifically, the -7A series is rated 17.7 cd @ -35°C per UL (and @ -40°C per ULC) for outdoor cold-weather operation. Therefore, the appliance retains useful output across the temperature range when paired with a 757A-WB weatherproof box.

Operating Voltage

Furthermore, the speaker accepts 25 VRMS audio. Then the strobe runs on 16 to 33 VDC continuous (not pulsed). In addition, a diode allows full signal-circuit supervision.

Mounting

Specifically, the 757-7A-RS25W flush-mounts to the Edwards 960A-4SF flush box. Therefore, no separate trim plate is required. Also, surface and weatherproof mounting use Edwards’s color-matched accessory boxes:

  • 757A-SBW — indoor surface box, white
  • 757A-WBW — weatherproof outdoor surface box, white
  • 757A-BDFW — bi-directional mounting frame, white

Lens Markings

However, the unit ships with “FIRE” wall-orientation markings. Therefore, ceiling-mount or alternate-language installations need an LKW or LKC lens kit (e.g., LKC-1 for ceiling “FIRE”, LKW-2 for “FEU”, LKW-3 for bilingual “FIRE/FEU”, LKW-4 for “SMOKE”, LKW-7 for “EMERGENCY”).
