The Edwards 876-G5 is a weatherproof grille-type AC vibrating horn from the 870-Series AdaptaHorn family. Specifically, it operates on 24 V AC and delivers high-decibel audible signaling for indoor or outdoor heavy-duty use. Furthermore, the unit is UL Listed to NEMA 4X enclosure requirements.
First, the housing is die-cast with a durable, corrosion-resistant electrostatic heat-flowed powder-epoxy gray finish. Then the volume is field-adjustable from 78 to 103 dB. As a result, you can tune output to the ambient noise level of the install location.
Typical Applications
Specifically, the 876-G5 is designed for industrial, commercial, and institutional signaling in outdoor or washdown environments. Therefore, common uses include:
- Outdoor process and shift signaling
- General alarm and warning signaling in food-service and wet-area facilities
- Equipment-malfunction annunciation on exterior plant walls
- Security and intrusion signaling at perimeter doors and gates

- Current: 0.63 A
- Power: 15.1 VA
- Sound output: 111 dB at 1 m / 101 dB at 10 ft (maximum)
- Adjustable output range: 78 to 103 dB
- Voltage tolerance: -20% to +10% of nominal
- Duty rating: 400 hours at 50% duty cycle
Mounting and Enclosure
Also, the 876-G5 is supplied complete with its die-cast weatherproof enclosure. Specifically, the box is UL Listed to NEMA 4X requirements. Therefore, it is suitable for:
- Outdoor wall and pole mounting
- Indoor washdown areas and food-processing facilities
- Coastal or corrosive-atmosphere locations
In addition, dimensions are approximately 4-7/8 in (124 mm) L x 3-5/16 in (84 mm) W x 4-7/8 in (124 mm) H. As a result, the footprint stays compact for tight install locations.

What This Part Is Not
However, the 876-G5 is primarily industrial signaling, not a fire-alarm notification appliance. Specifically, the 870 Series catalog targets industrial, commercial, and institutional timing, paging, and alarm signaling. Therefore, verify with your AHJ before specifying the 876-G5 on an NFPA-72 fire-alarm system.
Also, the original product copy referenced “addressable fire alarm systems” integration — that is not the 870-Series design intent. As a result, treat the 876-G5 as an industrial weatherproof horn first.
