EDWARDS (33-30802A) Remote Display Unit; Mimics Detector Dis

The Edwards 33-30802A Remote Display Unit (RDU) is a wall- or rack-mount LED status repeater for the Stratos aspirating smoke detection system. First, the RDU connects to the Stratos SenseNET bus. Then, the operator selects which Stratos ASD to mirror via the front-panel switches. As a result, ASD status is visible at a remote location far from the detector itself.

Specifically, the unit is a Kidde Airsense Stratos device distributed by Edwards in North America. Therefore, it is part of the Stratos ASD ecosystem, not a general fire alarm control panel accessory. In addition, the RDU does not stand alone — it always mirrors a Stratos ASD on the SenseNET network.

The front panel includes an LED bar-graph that shows the mirrored ASD’s current obscuration level. Furthermore, four discrete alarm-level LEDs (Aux/Pre-Alarm/Fire 1/Fire 2) and OK and fault LEDs round out the status display. Also, a bank of selector switches picks which ASD on the SenseNET bus is currently displayed.

For NFPA 72 reporting, the RDU mirrors the host Stratos ASD — it does not generate alarm signals on its own. However, the optional 30803 relay card lets the RDU drive auxiliary outputs from the mirrored alarms. As a result, the RDU can both display and pass through alarm and fault states to local control equipment.
