The Edwards SIGA-IM2 Isolator Module is a Signature Series inline fault isolator. First, it monitors a Class A SLC for wire-to-wire shorts. Then it opens the loop at the fault location and isolates that segment from the rest of the system.
This is the second-generation isolator, replacing the original SIGA-IM. Importantly, the SIGA-IM2 is a different product than the SIGA-IB detector base isolator. Specifically, the IM2 is an inline module, while the IB is a smoke base.
How it protects the loop
- First, a wire-to-wire short opens all isolators on the loop within 23 ms.
- Then isolators re-close sequentially at 10 ms intervals.
- As a result, only the faulted segment stays open.
- Furthermore, the module self-restores once the short clears.
Verified electrical specs
- Operating voltage: 15.2 to 19.95 VDC (19 VDC nominal) from the loop controller.
- Standby current: 45 µA.
- Activated current: 45 µA.
- Max circuit resistance between isolators: 6 ohms.
- Wire size: #12 to #18 AWG.
- Uses one detector address on the SLC.
Mounting
The IM2 mounts to a North American 2 1/2″ deep 2-gang box. Alternatively, install it in a 1 1/2″ deep 4″ square box with a 2-gang cover and the SIGA-MP plate.

- Humidity: 0 to 93% RH, non-condensing.
- LED: green flashes when polled (normal).

Important wiring note
The IM2 supports Class A SLC wiring only. Therefore, do not specify this module for Class B installations.
Panel compatibility
The SIGA-IM2 works with EST4, EST3, EST3X, and iO Series control panels. In addition, pair it with second-generation isolation detectors and non-isolated I/O modules.
