The Edwards GCAWF is a Genesis LED Series ceiling-mount horn with white finish and FIRE marking. First, it provides audible-only signaling for life safety and fire alarm applications. As a result, it pairs with separate visual strobes on the same NAC circuit for compliant occupant notification. The Edwards GCAWF mounts directly to standard electrical boxes with no extension ring needed.
This is a horn-only appliance. Specifically, the Edwards GCAWF does NOT include a strobe or candela light output. Therefore, do not specify it as a horn-strobe – for combined audible-visible signaling order the GCAVWF instead.
Sound Output and Configuration
The horn offers selectable temporal-three (T3) or constant tone via slide switch. Furthermore, the dB level is field-selectable to high or low output. At high setting, sound reaches 86 dBA (UL 464) / 92 dBA (CAN/ULC S5925). At low setting, output drops to 80 dBA UL 464. Also, all settings remain visible through the device window after the cover is closed.
Verified Electrical Specifications
The Edwards GCAWF operates on 16 to 33 VDC or 16 to 33 VFWR filtered power. Then the current draw at 16-33 VDC is 30 mA (high dB) or 20 mA (low dB). For VFWR power, current rises to 40 mA high / 25 mA low. As a result, low-dB selection lets installers fit more horns per NAC circuit.
Mounting and Wiring
The GP10 room side wiring plate is INCLUDED with the device. Then installers pre-wire the plate, verify continuity with the supplied diagnostic check bar, and snap the appliance into place. Compatible electrical boxes include 1-gang, 2-gang, 4-inch octagon, and 4-inch square (1-1/2 inch minimum depth). Wire terminals accept 12 to 18 AWG conductors.
Listings and Compliance
The Edwards GCAWF carries UL 464 listing for audible signaling. Also, it meets CAN/ULC-S525. Markings can be changed at any time with EGCAWF-CVR (white, FIRE) or EGCAWA-CVR (white, ALERT) quick-swap covers.
