The Macurco GD-2B is a residential and light-commercial combustible gas detector with a 10-year sensor. Specifically, it senses methane (natural gas) or propane. Therefore, it suits multi-family, single-family, and small commercial use cases.
First, the GD-2B operates on 9–32 VDC or 12–24 VAC. Then, it interfaces with fire alarm or burglary control panels through dry-contact relays. In addition, the unit produces a local alarm tone and provides end-of-life indication.
Macurco GD-2B service life and sensor
The GD-2B’s solid-state sensor carries a 10-year service life. As a result, owners go a decade between detector replacements. Also, end-of-life indication signals when the cell is approaching its limit.
Verified specifications
- Detected gases: methane (CH4) or propane (C3H8)
- Power input: 9–32 VDC or 12–24 VAC
- Sensor: solid-state, 10-year service life with EOL indicator
- Operating temperature: 40°F to 100°F (4.4°C to 37.8°C)
- Listing: UL 2075
Installation notes
For methane, mount the GD-2B near the ceiling above potential leak sources. Alternatively, for propane, mount low on the wall near the floor. Then, wire power and the alarm relay back to the host panel. Finally, follow the GD-2B installation manual for clearance distances and supervision wiring.
The GD-2A is the related variant with a 5-year sensor and a wider operating temperature range. Therefore, choose the GD-2A for installations with broader temperature swings, and the GD-2B for longer service life in conditioned spaces.
