The Gentex SCR is a hard-wired smoke and carbon-monoxide alarm with a Form A relay. First, it combines photoelectric smoke sensing with electrochemical CO detection. Then, the on-board relay drives remote annunciation or building controls.
In addition, the SCR is part of Gentex’s SC Series of multi-criteria alarms. As a result, you get two life-safety sensors in one head.
Where the Gentex SCR Fits
The SC Series is built for dwelling units. Specifically, that includes homes, apartments, hotels, motels, and hospital sleeping rooms. Therefore, the SCR is not a commercial-system addressable detector. However, the Form A contacts allow tie-in to a remote annunciator or panel input.
Also, multiple SCR units can be interconnected. As a result, alarm at one alarm sounds at all interconnected stations.

Installation Notes
First, hard-wire the SCR to 120 VAC building power. Then, install the 9 V alkaline backup battery. Finally, wire the Form A contacts if remote annunciation is required.
In addition, follow NFPA 72 and local code for spacing and placement. As a result, you meet both fire and CO code requirements with a single device.
