The Gentex GHLFW is a 24 VDC low-frequency horn from the Gentex GHLF Series. It produces a 520 Hz square-wave audible signal in Temporal 3 pattern. As a result, it satisfies the NFPA 72 sleeping-area audibility requirement for new commercial installations. Furthermore, the GHLFW ships with a white (off-white) faceplate and plain (no lettering) bezel.
Gentex GHLFW Specifications
The GHLFW operates at 24 VDC nominal. In addition, it accepts an input voltage range of 16–33 V on filtered DC or full-wave-rectified power. Also, the unit produces a peak sound output of 88.3 dBA in an anechoic chamber, per the manufacturer datasheet. Furthermore, it carries a jumper selection for either NORMAL or LOUD decibel output.
Per the Gentex datasheet, minimum SPL at 10 ft (reverberant room, UL 464) is 77.8 dBA NORMAL / 79.8 dBA LOUD in Temporal 3 520 Hz. Also, Temporal 4 520 Hz (when used with the GTSM module) is 81.5 dBA NORMAL / 83.4 dBA LOUD. Operating current at 24 VDC nominal is 72.1 mA NORMAL / 120.1 mA LOUD in Temporal 3, and 75.9 mA NORMAL / 116.0 mA LOUD in Temporal 4.

Installation Notes for Gentex GHLFW
First, the 520 Hz low-frequency tone is intended for sleeping-area audibility per NFPA 72 Chapter 18. Therefore, the GHLFW is well-suited to hotels, dormitories, and other Group R occupancies. Then, the white faceplate suits installations where red trim would be visually disruptive. In addition, the unit ships with the Gentex Super-Slide® mounting bracket. Also, the bracket allows prewiring and supervision testing without removing the signal head. Furthermore, input terminals accept 12–18 AWG wire. However, Temporal 4 pattern requires the Gentex GTSM Synchronization Control Module. The GHLFW is not listed for outdoor use, and operating temperature is 32°–120°F (0°–49°C). Unit dimensions are 6-1/8″ H × 5-1/2″ W × 1-5/8″ D.
