KIDDE (VM-SLCXB2) Signaling Line Expansion Card

The Kidde VM-SLCXB2 is the Signaling Line Loop Controller Expansion Card for VM Series fire alarm control panels. As a result, the host panel can grow beyond the loops carried on the VM-CPU.

Specifically, the VM-SLCXB2 ships with one pre-installed VM-SLC card. Therefore, plugging the assembly into a VM-1R or VM-1S panel adds loop 3 immediately. Furthermore, the second card slot accepts an additional VM-SLC (ordered separately) to populate loop 4.

Each loop supports up to 250 addressable points. Specifically, that is 125 V-Series detectors plus 125 GSA-series modules. In addition, each loop wires Class A (Style 6) or Class B (Style 4) at the installer’s choice.

Reaching the Panel’s Four-Loop Maximum

First, a base VM-1 panel ships with one on-board SLC on the VM-CPU. Then, a separately ordered VM-SLC adds loop 2 directly on the CPU. Furthermore, this VM-SLCXB2 provides loop 3 out of the box. Finally, adding a second VM-SLC into the expansion card completes loop 4 — the panel’s series maximum.
