Altronix (PD8CB) Power distribution unit w/ckt brkr

The Altronix PD8CB is a power distribution module that splits a single AC or DC input into eight PTC-protected, auto-resettable outputs. Specifically, it is the unlisted PTC variant used to fan out a low-voltage bus to eight accessories without the field-service overhead of replacing blown fuses.

First, the PD8CB accepts up to 28VAC or 28VDC at up to 12 A from an upstream power supply. Then, eight on-board PTCs split that bus into eight 2.5 A auto-resettable outputs. In addition, each PTC opens on overcurrent and resets after the fault clears, eliminating fuse-replacement truck rolls. As a result, integrators reduce service cost on installations prone to short events.

Listing Note — Not a UL-Listed Sub-Assembly

However, the PD8CB is the non-UL variant of this distribution family. Specifically, the PD8CB datasheet shows no UL agency listings. Therefore, if a project requires a UL-listed PTC distribution sub-assembly, specify the PD8ULCB instead (UL 294 + UL 603 + UL 1481, same form factor). Furthermore, do not install the PD8CB inside a UL 864 fire-alarm control unit; doing so may invalidate the host listing.
