The POTTER IFSS-WPS is an outdoor industrial flow switch with a 316 stainless steel pipe connection. It detects liquid flow in industrial process lines. In addition, the weatherproof NEMA 4 enclosure suits outdoor and washdown locations. The IFSS-WPS is an industrial control device, not a fire-sprinkler waterflow switch.
How the POTTER IFSS-WPS Works
An internal paddle extends into the pipe and detects liquid flow. As a result, the SPDT switch transfers to signal flow or no-flow conditions. Furthermore, technicians can field-trim the paddle for intermediate pipe sizes from 1″ to 8″. The switch operates on horizontal pipe or vertical pipe with upward flow.
The IFSS-WPS uses a 1″ NPT 316 stainless steel pipe connection. Specifically, mount it in a 1″ × 1″ × 1″ tee on a 1″ line. However, for larger pipe sizes, use a reducing tee instead.
Application Notes
Use the IFSS-WPS to start and stop electrically operated equipment on flow change. For instance, it can drive pumps, valves, or alarm circuits. However, the device is rated for industrial control only, not fire-sprinkler service. Also, it is not suitable for hazardous locations.
