Mircom RB-MD-1397-256 Replacement Controller Board for TX3-CX
The Mircom RB-MD-1397-256 is a replacement main controller board for Mircom TX3-CX-2-A-256 and TX3-CX-2K-A-256 card access controllers. First, it ships as a drop-in replacement for a failed or damaged board. As a result, technicians restore door access without swapping the entire enclosure.
The board uses RS-485 networking to connect multiple TX3 controllers. In addition, each board’s RS-485 address must be set before installation. Specifically, set the address per Mircom LT-980 (TX3-CX Card Access System Installation manual).
Mircom RB-MD-1397-256 power and connections
The board accepts 16 VAC power via the Mircom PS-4 or PS-4P transformer. Also, it includes terminals for two card readers (BEEPER, RED LED, GRN LED, COM, DATA 0, DATA 1). Furthermore, dedicated terminals support six input zones and six output relays (NC / C / NO each).
Battery backup connects to 12 V terminals (P5 BAT+, P6 BAT-). However, the backup battery is not included with the replacement board. Therefore re-use the existing battery from the enclosure where possible.
What ships in the box
The kit includes 4 mounting screws, 4 standoffs, and 2 long battery cables (40 in, one red and one black). Also included: 2 short battery cables (16 in red, 24 in black) and 6 RS-485 wires (three at 22 in plus three at 3 in, in red, black, and white).
For installation steps, follow Mircom LT-981A-256. Specifically, set the RS-485 address first, power down the existing board, disconnect the battery, transfer all input/output/network connectors, then mount the new board with the six existing screws.
