The Edwards SIGA-IB4 is a Signature Series detector mounting base with a built-in line fault isolator. It is the 4 in square electrical box version of the SIGA-IB isolator base. In addition, it ships with the SIGA-TS4 trim skirt that covers the mounting ears for a clean ceiling finish.
How the Edwards SIGA-IB4 isolator works
First, on a short circuit anywhere on the Signature loop, all isolator bases open within 23 msec. Then at 10 msec intervals, beginning at the loop controller, the isolators close one at a time to deliver power down the line. As a result, when the isolator next to the short closes, it reopens within 10 msec, sealing off the faulted segment while the rest of the loop continues to operate.
Wiring terminals
Terminal 2 is DATA IN/OUT (+). Terminal 3 is DATA IN (-). Terminal 6 is DATA OUT (-). Terminals 1, 4, 5, and 7 are not used. Furthermore, the isolator base does NOT support the SIGA-LED remote alarm LED; use the SIGA-SB or SIGA-SB4 standard base for SIGA-LED installations.
Mounting
The SIGA-IB4 mounts to a North American 4 in square box (1-1/2 in deep), as well as 1-gang boxes, 3-1/2 in and 4 in octagon boxes, European 1-gang and BESA boxes. Maximum wall-mount distance from the ceiling is 12 in (305 mm). Terminals accept 12, 14, 16, or 18 AWG; sizes 16 and 18 are preferred.
Compatibility and construction
Accepts all Signature Series detector heads, including the SIGA-H2D, SIGA-HFS, SIGA-HRS, SIGA-PS, SIGA-IS, and SIGA-IPHS series. Construction is high-impact engineering polymer in white. Shipping weight: 3.2 oz (91 g). A detector must be installed for the isolator function to operate.
