The Silent Knight SK-NIC is a network interface card for 6000 Series fire alarm control panels. It links separate panels into one communication and annunciation network. As a result, multiple panels report through a single point.
What the Silent Knight SK-NIC connects
The card creates a common link between up to 17 panels. One designated panel acts as the communicator for the group. Standard connections use unshielded twisted-pair copper wire. Alternatively, the SK-FML multi-mode or SK-FSL single-mode module adds fiber-optic links.
Specifications
The SK-NIC runs a 625K baud ARCNET repeater. It operates on 24 VDC and draws 21 mA in standby and alarm. Copper runs use 16 to 18 AWG twisted-pair up to 3,000 ft between nodes. Furthermore, the card supports Style 5 or Style 7 network configurations.
Compatibility and listings
Compatible panels include the 6820, 6820EVS, 6808, and 6700. The 6700 requires the SK-NIC-KIT for external mounting. Also, the SK-NIC is UL listed, CSFM and FM approved, and meets NFPA 72.
