The Simplex 4098-5214 is a duct sensor housing for MX-Technology addressable smoke detection. First, it routes a slice of HVAC airflow past a separately ordered smoke sensor. Then, the housing returns air to the duct through an exhaust tube. As a result, the system samples the duct without disturbing system airflow.
Simplex 4098-5214 Housing Function
The housing ships without a sensor and without a relay. Specifically, order the 4098-5252 MX-Technology smoke sensor and the sampling and exhaust tubes separately. In addition, the clear cover allows visual inspection of the installed sensor.
Listing and Standard
The 4098-5214 is UL Listed to UL 268A, the duct-application standard. Furthermore, the listing covers in-duct smoke detection use. As a result, the housing meets the standard typically referenced for air-handler smoke detection.
Compatible Panels
The housing connects to a Simplex 4100ES or 4010ES panel equipped with an MX-Technology Addressable Loop Module. Then, order a sampling tube to match the duct width. Finally, refer to the manufacturer’s duct-detector application guide for placement and tube selection.
