The Simplex 4098-9776 is the black-finish TrueAlarm standard addressable sensor base. It carries catalog number 07431964. The base contains the addressable electronics that talk to the panel.
The sensor base is the addressable side of the TrueAlarm system. Specifically, the detachable sensor head plugs into this base and transmits its analog smoke reading every four seconds. As a result, the fire alarm control panel applies alarm and pre-alarm thresholds in software at the panel.
How the Simplex 4098-9776 Communicates
First, the base auto-selects between IDNet and MAPNET II protocols based on the connected panel. Then, a DIP switch on the front of the base under the sensor sets the device address. Therefore, the address stays with the mounting location rather than the swappable sensor head. As a result, sensor swaps and cleanings do not require re-addressing at the panel.

Mounting and Wiring
The 4098-9776 mounts to a 4-inch octagonal or 4-inch square electrical box. Specifically, the box must be at least 1-1/2 inches deep. Alternatively, a single-gang box with 2-inch minimum depth also works. The screw terminals accept 18 to 14 AWG (0.82 to 2.08 mm²) wiring. Furthermore, humidity range is 10% to 95% RH; storage temperature is 0° to 140°F (–18°C to 60°C).
Compatible Panels
For IDNet installations, use the Simplex 4007ES, 4010, 4010ES, 4100ES, and 4100U panels. For MAPNET II installations, use the Simplex 4020, 4100, and 4120-series panels.
Compatible Sensors
The 4098-9776 accepts the 4098-9714 (white TrueAlarm photoelectric), 4098-9774 (black TrueAlarm photoelectric), 4098-9733 (heat sensor), and 4098-9734 (heat sensor).
