The Potter Electric Signal SL-401-A is a 12 VDC weather-resistant strobe with an amber lens. First, the SL-401-A draws only 115 mA from the 12 VDC source. Then, it delivers a 60,000 candle-power flash at 60-100 flashes per minute. As a result, the SL-401-A is the lowest current-consumption weatherproof strobe in its class. Specifically, it serves commercial security and burglar alarm signaling.
Potter Electric Signal SL-401-A construction
The strobe housing uses high-impact resistant thermoplastic. Specifically, the unit is rated for outdoor weather exposure. In addition, the operating life exceeds 200 hours of continuous operation. Furthermore, two color-coded AWG 22 lead wires provide simple input power connection.
Wiring uses an easy two-wire connection. However, the input is polarized with reverse-polarity protection. Therefore, mis-wiring will not damage the strobe.
Mounting
The SL-401-A mounts on a standard 4-inch square electrical box, 1-1/2 inch deep. Specifically, the optional 4SP-MW trim plate is used to dress the install. In addition, the lens locks into the base through a quarter-turn rotation. Also, the rubber sealing ring must seat correctly to maintain weather integrity.
