The Altronix SMP3ET is a complete power supply and charger kit. It bundles the SMP3 board with the BC100 enclosure and the TP1640 plug-in transformer.
First, the TP1640 transformer steps mains down to 16VAC at 40 VA. Then that low-voltage AC feeds the SMP3 board inside the BC100 wall-mount enclosure. As a result, the kit produces a regulated 6VDC or 12VDC output at up to 2.5A continuous.
In addition, the kit accepts one 12VDC/7AH or two 12VDC/4AH standby batteries inside the enclosure. Therefore, the unit transfers instantly to battery on AC loss and continues to deliver power without interruption.

Intended Applications — Access, Security, and CCTV
Per the Altronix data sheet, the SMP3ET is intended for access control, security, and CCTV system accessories that require additional power. Therefore, it suits door strikes, maglocks, intercoms, small camera networks, and sensors. However, the SMP3ET data sheet does not list UL 864, UL 294, or NFPA 72 agency approvals. As a result, it should not be used as a fire alarm or NAC power source. For UL 864 fire-alarm NAC power, choose an Altronix model such as FireSwitch108, AL842ULADA, or AL602ULADA.
