The STI STI-9707 is a surface-mount Beam Smoke Damage Stopper® from Safety Technology International. This steel cage protects the sensor units of projected-beam smoke detectors. Specifically, the series guards both transmitter and receiver units, sold individually.

Beam detectors usually watch over large spaces such as gymnasiums, warehouses, and auditoriums. There, stray balls and vandalism cause costly damage and false fire alarms. As a result, a heavy steel guard is cheap insurance.
