The Simplex 2097-9031 is an OSYSU-2 supervisory switch for outside screw & yoke (OS&Y) gate valves on fire sprinkler systems.
First, the switch monitors whether the OS&Y valve is in the fully open position. Then it reports valve tampering or partial closure to the fire alarm panel as a supervisory signal. As a result, the panel can alert building staff before a closed valve disables sprinkler protection.
What the Simplex 2097-9031 Provides
The OSYSU-2 model contains two sets of SPDT (Form C) contacts. Therefore, the switch can drive two independent supervisory or auxiliary signals from a single valve.
Typical Applications
OS&Y valves sit on the main supply side of sprinkler risers and zone control valves. In addition, code generally requires electrical supervision on these valves so that a closed valve generates an off-normal signal at the FACP.
