Detector bases get overlooked — they look interchangeable, and they are not. The base does more than hold the head in place.
The base carries the head’s extra functions
The wrong base will defeat sounder integration, isolator function, or a remote-LED hookup. The head can look correct and still not do its job because the base underneath it does not support the feature you need.
Match the base to the head and the SLC type
A base has to match both the detector head and the SLC type for the panel you are on. Panel brand and addressable-vs-conventional both matter. When you are swapping a head, confirm the base is the right one for that head and that loop — not just the one that physically fits.
Stock the matching base
We stock the matching commercial detector bases for whatever head you are replacing. A mismatched base is an easy, avoidable finding — see the most common fire alarm inspection failures.
