The Simplex 4098-5602 is a combination photoelectric smoke and heat detector. It adds 135°F (57°C) fixed-temperature heat sensing to photoelectric smoke detection. As a result, one detector responds to both smoldering and fast-flaming fires.
This detector works with Simplex two-wire and four-wire detector bases. Furthermore, it replaces the earlier 4098-9602. Therefore, it is a direct upgrade path for existing installations.
Simplex 4098-5602 Performance
Onboard electronics analyze smoke and thermal activity together. In addition, automatic drift compensation maintains sensitivity over time. As a result, the detector helps reduce nuisance alarms.
The unit is listed to UL for fire protective signaling. Also, it operates across standard commercial indoor conditions. Specifically, it runs from 32°F to 100°F.
Compatible Bases
Pair the 4098-5602 with a current-style 4098 base. Available options include:
- 4098-5207 — two-wire, 5 in. base
- 4098-5261 — two-wire, 4 in. base
- 4098-5680 — two-wire, 5 in. base with auxiliary alarm relay
- 4098-5682 — four-wire, 5 in. base
However, older 4098 series bases are not compatible. Therefore, confirm your base model before ordering.
