The Bosch D7050 is an addressable photoelectric smoke detector head. It connects to the multiplex bus of compatible Bosch fire alarm control panels. Specifically, it uses light-scattering technology to spot the large smoke particles produced by smoldering fires.
A pulsed infrared source and high-speed photodiode sit inside the optical chamber. As a result, the detector responds quickly to smoke yet rejects external light interference. In addition, the chamber’s symmetry allows 360° smoke entry from any direction.
How the Bosch D7050 Detects Smoke
First, smoke particles enter the optical chamber through screened openings. Then, the infrared beam scatters off those particles toward the photodiode. As a result, the detector head signals the panel over its two-wire multiplex bus connection.
The D7050 also runs Bosch’s Chamber Check self-diagnostic continuously. Specifically, if calibration drifts out of range, the LED double-flashes every 3 to 8 seconds. Furthermore, the head sends a dirty-chamber report to the FACP. As a result, maintenance crews know exactly when service is due.
Field-Replaceable Head Design
The D7050 is a detector head only. It mounts on the D7050-B6 two-wire base, which holds all the wiring. To install, align the head with the base and twist clockwise. No tools are required, except the hex key for the tamper screw.
This split design simplifies maintenance. When a head needs replacement, the base and field wiring stay in place. Therefore, swaps take minutes rather than hours on large systems.
Key Features
