The Secutron DUCT-MB is a flexible mounting bracket for the MIX-4010-DUCT addressable duct smoke detector. It solves a specific installation problem: mounting on curved or insulated duct surfaces. The bracket ships flat. Then, the installer bends it on site to match the duct profile.
How the Secutron DUCT-MB Works
Round duct gives a flat-backed detector housing nothing to seal against. Therefore, the DUCT-MB forms a stable mounting surface on circular or insulated rectangular ducts. It works on duct diameters as small as 4 inches (100 mm). In addition, the bracket comes with a rubber gasket and sealing sleeve. These keep the air sampling path tight at the duct penetration.
Installation Notes
Drill a 2-inch (51 mm) detector hole when mounting with the bracket. That is larger than the 1-1/2-inch hole used for direct mounting. Also, the bracket is ordered separately from the MIX-4010-DUCT detector itself. Sampling tubes are sized to the duct width and sold separately too. Finally, pair it with DUCT-RG spare gaskets for ducts wider than 2 feet.
