The Gentex (S) alarm (Gentex part number 917-0070-002) is a 120 VAC single/multiple-station photoelectric smoke alarm. It is the base model in the Gentex S/C/SC/H Series.
First, the alarm uses multi-criteria photoelectric light-scattering sensing technology. Then, after two consecutive pulses in smoke, the alarm activates. As a result, the device delivers reliable detection while reducing nuisance alarms.
Gentex (S) Specifications
Operating voltage is 120 VAC, 60 Hz with a 9 V alkaline battery for backup. The operating current is 0.055 A. Furthermore, nominal smoke sensitivity is 2.5% obscuration. The temporal-3 piezo horn produces 85 dBA at 10 ft (3100 Hz nominal).
Operating ambient temperature is 40 °F to 100 °F. The unit measures 5.5″ × 5.5″ overall (5.0″ × 5.0″ at the base) with a 1.75″ depth. In addition, an 8-hour alarm memory and 10-year end-of-life indicator are standard.

Tandem Interconnect
The Gentex (S) can tandem-interconnect with other S Series, GN-503 Series, CO1209 Series, and S1209 Series Gentex alarms. However, it is not compatible with legacy 7100/7103, 9120/9123, GN-200/GN-203, GN-300/GN-303, 7100CS/7103CS, or 7109CS/7139CS Series alarms. Up to 18 initiating devices may interconnect, with a maximum of 12 S or SC Series smoke alarms.
